Engaging Students Through A Project Based Approach
Thursday February 13, 2025 11:45am - 12:45pm MST
Have you ever heard this question, "Why are we learning this?" Students and parents are desperate to be excited about what they are learning in schools. Incorporating a project based approach to curricular learning takes education into real world situations in a meaningful, authentic fashion. PBL can be cross curricular and incorporate multiple grades in a single project. The presenters will introduce attendees to project based learning (PBL) and demonstrate what this can look like on a large and a small scale. They will also discuss how administrators can support teachers wishing to embark on the PBL journey.

The Effects of Inquiry Based Science Activities on Engaged Learners in Secondary Chemistry
Friday February 14, 2025 1:00pm - 2:00pm MST
This qualitative research study focused on the effectiveness of implementing formatted worksheets centered on chemistry work-set problems based upon real-life inquiry scenarios involving stoichiometry. I wanted to compare its effectiveness to the traditional recipe and repetitive typed questions we generally see in classes. Thus, the purpose was whether these real-life inquiry-based worksheets enhanced productivity success for engaged learners. The attempt to answer the problem of “when approaching word problems, do students prefer certain real-life applications over others?” was explored through a qualitative research of classroom surveys.
