Small Bits of Happiness: Helping Teens Feel Happier
Thursday February 13, 2025 11:45am - 12:45pm MST
My name is Mercedes Korngut, I am 16-years-old, and from Calgary. A year and a half ago, my sister (14) and I started a social venture, Small Bits of Happiness. Our mission is to help individuals of all ages find more happiness in daily life. As two teens, we understand firsthand the difficulties of teenage-hood, including not only the hormonal changes that we undergo, but the added stressors of war, post-pandemic life, and beyond. As a result, we created Small Bits of Happiness. We have a series of teen-designed wellness products, including our wellness game, Mission: Small Bits of Happiness. This game is focused on teaching teenagers the habit of happiness. Mission: Small Bits of Happiness is a 6x4 card game, featuring 100 unique, simple, and fun activities to do to feel happier daily, learn about what brings one happiness, and build happy habits. Over the past 1.5 years, we've reached over 3 million teens and adults, received great interest from teachers in purchasing our game for their classes (ranging from grades 1-12), and have received significant national media coverage. Our session is all about how teens can find happiness in the turmoil of teenage-hood, filled with war, post-pandemic life, and teenage struggles. Additionally, we are discussing how teachers can help support their students in daily life, building these happy habits, and practicing wellness.
